MVA/Hazmat Incident on Boston Road

     

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 1536

On Wednesday September 29th at 1536, Valley City Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in front of 6250 Boston Rd. On arrival units found a Fabrizi dump truck which had gone off the road and turned onto its side next to a pond. The dump truck was leaking hydraulic fluid and diesel fuel. Absorbent Pads were placed under the leaks and special absorbent booms were placed in the pond to contain fluids which had spread into the pond. The leak was contained to the immediate area. Valley City Fire department responded with Engine-11, Rescue-18, Squad 17-1. Valley City Fire Department was also assisted on scene by Medina County Sheriffs, Ohio State Patrol, Medina County Hazmat Team, Ohio EPA, Rich’s Towing, and Fabrizi’s. The driver of the truck was transported to Southwest General Hospital with minor injuries. Boston road remained closed throughout the incident. All Valley City Fire Department Vehicles returned to service at 1840.
