On 10/24/2010 at 4:25 pm Valley City Fire Department was toned out for a field fire at 5747 Myrtle Hill. Grass Fire Truck-14, Engine-11 and Squad 17-2 responded. On arrival units found a fire moving through a dry field towards the woods with a large area that had already burned. Truck-14 was used to extinguish the fire. The fire was determined to be out 20 minutes after arrival of the first unit. The fire was determined to be caused by fireplace embers that were still warm when they they were dumped in the field at approximately 10am. The fire was also fueled by high winds and dry conditions.
